Everyone that knows me knows I would never pose for a sexy picture or dress provocative . I am cancer patient and I’m a fighter. I was diagnosed with cancer in May 2012. I have stage 4 breast cancer that metastases to the bones. I under went chemo and a lot of radiation, I will always have some sort of treatment for life. In January 2015 I had both my breast removed with some lymph nodes removed.

Tracy‘s Dream: I would like to help cancer patients to have a stress free day while they are having there chemo or radiation treatments. While they are taking this new journey a paid free parking can help them . The cost for there treatments, wigs and other aids they need becomes costly and when you are under going these treatments they can’t work and money is tight. Help me put a smile and one less burden. Free parking!

  • How many cancer patients has Tracy’s Dream helped to relieve some of the stress that comes with the burden of facing parking cost?

To date we are closing in on 165 occasions where Tracy’s Dream has been accessed

  • How does Tracy Dream work?

Patients or family members or medical facilities will initiate contact to Tracy’s Dream through the various communication avenues available. We generally look at how many cancer related appointments a patient has over a 30 day period. Once that number is established Tracy’s Dream will provide either tokens or a prepaid monthly pass based on the number of appointments.  Arrangements are then made for the patient to pick up their tokens or passes, usually the Dinelle home.

  • Have there been changes to Tracy’s Dream?

Yes, Positive changes for sure. In Jan 2015 when Tracy and her Tracy’s Dream Team began helping to relieve some of the stress that comes with the burden parking costs. At this time funds were limited so only Chemo and Radiation treatment appointments were covered.

Strong community support prompted Tracy to announce in May 2016 that her Dream to cover more appointments was moving forward. At that time blood work appointments were added to the criteria.

Tracy would be pleased that her Dream has moved forward even further.  Beginning in September 2016 Tracy’s Dream has committed to covering all cancer related appointments.  The support from this community is truly remarkable and has enabled these positive changes.

  • Has there been a decrease or increase in cancer patients accessing Tracy’s Dream?

There has been an increase. We have been hearing from patients sometimes multiple patients on a daily basis. We have several patients that access Tracy’s Dream on a regular monthly basis. I personally believe that new cancer diagnosis’s are on the rise in our community.

  • Do you feel cancer patients are hesitant to access Tracy’s Dream?

Yes certainly, People often comment that they don’t access Tracy’s Dream because they feel they would be taking away from someone who needs it more. Tracy’s Dream is not just about financial support. Tracy established her dream to relieve some of the stress that comes with the burden of facing parking cost. Having tokens or a pass provided really does do that for a patient. There is no fumbling looking for $6.00 to put in the meter or having to go to the cashier all the time to make a parking token purchase.  All cancer patients are encouraged to access Tracy’s Dream.

  • There has been a lot of pressure on the Federal and Provincial Government across the country to eliminate parking cost all together at hospitals. Do you agree?

Tracy’s Dream has recently been tagged through media to several actions across the country that is in fact trying to bring awareness and change. We hope this movement continues and will either result in price decreases or total elimination of medical parking costs, particularly for cancer patients.
